” A new chapter for Mygdonia: international exposure and cultural cooperation through CIOFF® “
In Larissa, CIOFF® Greeceheld its General Assembly as part of a three-day event from November 21 to 23, 2025, marking the completion of 35 years of operation and cultural contribution of the Greek section of the organisation.
A total of 60 representatives from 25 cultural associations from various regions of Greece participated in the events and the General Assembly proceedings. During the meeting, participants exchanged views, experiences, and proposals for the further development of CIOFF®’s activities in Greece, while also strengthening cooperation among its members.
During the General Assembly, the members of CIOFF® Greece approved the application of the Cultural Organisation Mygdonia for full membership in the national section of the organisation. This decision marks an important moment for our association and recognises the cultural activity and efforts we have been making over the years to preserve and promote Greek tradition.
With our membership in CIOFF® Greece, our effort to keep Greek tradition alive and pass it on to younger generations is further strengthened. Through this collaboration, we gain the opportunity to develop new cultural exchanges, participate in international folk culture festivals, and build partnerships with associations and organisations from various countries around the world.
At the same time, our membership actively contributes to the promotion of local culture and to the highlighting of the cultural identity of our region.

What is CIOFF®?
CIOFF®, or otherwise Conseil International des Organisations de Festivals de Folklore et d’Arts Traditionnels, was founded in 1970 in France and operates worldwide, promoting and safeguarding the traditional cultural heritage of peoples.
The organisation cooperates officially with UNESCO and actively contributes to the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage. Through its activities, it promotes the recognition of traditional cultural expressions such as traditional dances, music, customs, and folk arts.
CIOFF® organises and supports international festivals of traditional culture in many countries around the world. Cultural associations, dance groups, and artists participate in these festivals, presenting the cultural traditions of their homeland, while also creating bridges of communication and cooperation between different peoples and cultures.
At the same time, the organization develops activities that promote the study, documentation, and dissemination of traditional cultural elements. It also places special emphasis on youth participation through the CIOFF® Youthnetwork, which encourages the younger generation to discover, appreciate, and continue cultural traditions.
Today, CIOFF® operates as an extensive global network of cultural organisations with national sections in many countries and hundreds of affiliated festivals. Through its activities, it promotes cultural cooperation, friendship among peoples, and the preservation of cultural heritage as a living element of contemporary society.
