Every group, in order to function effectively, needs harmony.
It needs a shared rhythm, a space where everyone can express themselves, grow, and feel safe.
At Mygdonia, our goal is not simply the creation of groups.
We strive to cultivate an environment where everyone feels that they belong — a community built on respect, cooperation, and love for tradition.
For us, each class is more than just a lesson.
It is a meeting point for people who, through dance, music, and participation, create relationships, experiences, and shared memories.
Because, in the end, what we build is not just groups, but a big family.
With this philosophy, our classes are also shaped so that every age and every individual can find their place within this community.
A’ Children’s Section
Ages: 4-7 ετών
The A’ Children’s Section is the first introduction of children to Greek tradition and dance.
Through play, music, and simple movement exercises, the dance instructor helps children become familiar with rhythm, teamwork, and the basic concepts of movement.
At this age, children gradually begin to learn how to form a proper circle and how to place their hands on the shoulders of their fellow dancers, cultivating a sense of cooperation and group unity.
In a joyful and supportive environment, our young friends take their first steps in dance, developing confidence and a love for participating in a group.
B’ Children’s Section
Ages: 7–13 years
The B’ Children’s Section represents the next stage in the development of dance learning.
At this level, children already have a basic foundation, and instruction becomes more structured, with a gradual introduction to more complex steps, rhythms, and dance formations.
At the same time, they continue to cultivate cooperation, teamwork, and a love for Greek tradition, strengthening their confidence and presence within the group.
The goal of this section is the smooth development of the children and their preparation for the transition to the Youth Section.
Youth Section
Ages: 14–17 years
This section is aimed at teenagers and represents an important stage in their dance development.
At this level, special emphasis is placed on proper technique, expression, and stage presence, building on the foundations acquired in previous sections.
The dancers gradually develop both individually and as a group, preparing for the next step in their journey: the Performance Section.
At the same time, the section also welcomes new participants, who, through targeted guidance and adapted instruction, have the opportunity to fill any gaps and integrate smoothly into the group.
In an environment of acceptance and collaboration, the goal is for every teenager to feel part of the group and to grow with confidence and love for dance.
Adult Section
The Adult Section is one of the oldest and most vibrant sections of the association, with participants of all ages and no age restrictions.
In a pleasant and relaxed environment, dancers have the opportunity to discover or further develop their connection with Greek dance, combining physical exercise with social interaction.
The section is open both to beginners and to those with prior experience, offering a space for expression, release, and a meaningful connection with tradition.
At the same time, as with all sections of the association, participants prepare throughout the year for performances and events.
Beginners’ Section
The Beginners’ Section is a relatively new section, created with a very simple idea: to give even the children’s companions the opportunity to join the circle of dance.
It is addressed to those who wish to take their first step into traditional dance, as well as to those who once danced and decided to put their “dance shoes” back on.
In a friendly and relaxed environment, without stress or pressure, participants get to know rhythm, basic steps, and the joy of group movement — because it is never too late to start.
Guided by good mood and companionship, this section proves that dance has no age… only enthusiasm.
Performance Section
The Performance Section is the elite ensemble of the association and represents the highest level of dance activity.
It consists mainly of young men and women, as well as experienced dancers, who undergo systematic preparation throughout the year for demanding performances in Greece and abroad.
Through participation in international festivals and events, the group presents Greek tradition with authenticity and dynamism, carrying Greek dance beyond borders.
The dedication, technical training, and passion of the dancers have led to significant distinctions, such as the first prize at the “Fêtes de la Vigne” festival in Dijon, France in 2022, as well as the first prize at the “Tydzień Kultury Beskidzkiej” and the “Międzynarodowe Spotkania Folklorystyczne” in Żywiec, Poland in 2024.
The Performance Section is the natural evolution of the association’s dancers and the culmination of their journey in traditional dance.
Messy & Sensory Play Section
The Messy & Sensory Play Section consists of two groups for children aged 1 to 4 years, operating in parallel with activities adapted to the age of each group.
Through hands-on experiences and creative play with various materials, children develop their imagination, fine motor skills, and their connection with the world around them.
Sensory (messy) play is one of the most natural and beloved forms of play in early childhood, as it involves the use of all senses: touch, sight, hearing, smell, taste, as well as movement.
Its purpose is free exploration, learning, and creative expression through play.
Messy play is a form of sensory play that often gets “messy,” in which children of all abilities and ages explore freely, experiment, and learn at their own pace through materials that activate all senses.
The programs are delivered by trained educators and professionals with appropriate education and certification in early childhood development and creative activities.
At the same time, all hygiene and safety regulations are strictly followed, and only suitable and safe materials for children are used.
Through this process, children develop skills, enhance their creativity, and take their first steps into learning through experience, gradually moving toward symbolic and creative play.
